“A Hydrologist’s Foray into the World of “Coupled Human and Natural Systems Research”
Bradford Wilcox, Professor, Department of Ecosystem Science and Management, Texas A&M University
Tuesday, March 17th, 3:00-4:00 pm, Latham Hall 311
Rangelands in the Southern Great Plains and much of the western United States have converted to woodlands with potentially enormous consequences to social, biological and hydrological systems. The change is analogous perhaps to much of the afforestation that has occurred in the East.
In this talk, Dr. Wilcox will describe what we know about how this transformation affects hydrological systems in the Southern Great Plans and our early attempts at understanding woody plant encroachment as a coupled social-ecological system.
