Kriddie Whitmore Awarded 2017 H.E. Burkhart Outstanding Masters Student Award in Dept. of FREC

IMG_0327On April 12, 2017, Kriddie Whitmore was awarded the H. E. Burkhart Outstanding Masters Student Award for the Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation.  This award honors years of dedicated graduate student research and mentoring by Dr. Harold E. Burkhart in the Department of Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation. The award is presented to four masters’ program students, one in each of the academic departments of the college. This award is based on academic, scientific, and professional achievement. From among these four students, an overall award is presented at the college level.

Kriddie’s research focuses on the effects of anthropogenic disturbances such as coal mining on stream ecology and water quality. Her Master’s project focused on selenium dynamics in headwater stream ecosystems.
